Welcome to Cinedans!
Cinedans has two distinct festival editions. In the even years, we organise a large showcase festival that includes the International Short Film Competition. In odd years, we focus on the "Practice & Potential" edition that includes the International Student Competition and prioritises reflection, development and discourse.
Our Entry Call is now open for Cinedans FEST '27, which includes the International Student Competition. You can submit films in three categories:
- International Student Competition: short films up to 25min (no submission fee)
- New Dutch: professional Dutch short films up to 25min (no submission fee)
- Out of Competition: professional and student features and documentary films longer than 25min, installations, stereoscopic films, VR films and other project proposals (no submission fee)
Please note that professional Dutch productions up to 25min are considered for both the New Dutch '27 section (out of competition) and the International Competition '28. It is up to the selection committee to decide whether a Dutch production will enter the 2028 competition. This process is automatic, filmmakers do not need to apply twice.
In addition, we accept submissions for Cinedans '28, which includes the International Competitions for Short Films and Short Docs. You can submit films in two categories:
- International Short Film Competition: short films up to 25min (€ 20,- submission fee)
- International Short Docs Competition: documentaries up to 25min (no submission fee)
DEADLINES
September 15th 2026 for the International Student Competition 2027, Out of Competition and all Dutch productions.
June 30th 2027 for international productions of the Short Film Competition and Out of Competition 2028.

The 23rd edition of Cinedans FEST will take place in March 2027 at Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam.
